A new industry standard, the Tempest Aviation Spark Plug

Manufactured with the most automated manufacturing processes, this is the most innovative spark plug in the aviation industry.

Key Features:

High Conductivity Copper Core Center Electrode copper, co-extruded inside a nickel alloy sleeve ensures outstanding heat and electrical conductivity while the nickel sleeve offers high resistance to corrosive combustion gases.

Nickel Ground Electrodes aviation grade nickel electrode design focuses on minimizing sparking voltage requirements while maintaining specification gaps to ensure large, stable "flame kernels" for on-time ignition and complete combustion.

High Alumina Ceramic Insulator high mechanical strength, superior dielectric properties, proprietary protective glaze, provides high performance to conquer severe operational conditions. "Clean Collarâ„¢" "massive electrode""V" tip focuses heat to reduce fouling and enhance heat range control.

Vacuum Infused Center Electrode proprietary, vacuum infusion process seals electrode/insulator gap providing stable heat range and superior center electrode cooling (heat flow to the insulator).

Proprietary Glass Center Seal 21st century "fired in" resistor replaces the multipart screw, spring, carbon pile stack up used in competitive plugs and known to suffer from resistance value instability that can cause misfires, wasted fuel, engine roughness.

Hot-Lock Assembly intense pressure and heat create positive, zero-leakage, shrunk in seal between insulator and shell to contain the hot, high pressure combustion cycle gases.

Nickel Finish environmentally preferable electrolytic nickel provides outstanding durable finish, superior corrosion protection, and extreme wear resistance.

Harness Wire Contact smooth, uninterrupted, oxide treated spring contact surface offers enhanced corrosion resistance, is chemically bonded to the fired-in resistor providing the ultimate harness/spark plug termination integrity and energy transfer

Important Ordering and Installation Information
  • No COD's on Spark Plugs.
  • All spark plugs come in factory sealed tube containers.
  • Please check plug application before opening!
  • We cannot accept returns on opened or installed plugs.
Aircraft Spark Plug Maintenance

It is normally recommended that spark plug gaps and deposit conditions be checked at 50 hour intervals. In addition, removal time specifications are usually available from the manufacturer and may be supplemented by past experience with a particular engine model.

Checking spark plug gaps and deposits at appropriate regular intervals is crucial to preventing engine misfires.

Aircraft Spark Plug Gaskets

Aviation Spark Plug Gaskets are manufactured to precise dimensions and material standards, based on the effective reach of a spark plug as determined by its installed thickness. An ideal installation has the firing end of the plug flush with the combustion chamber wall with no exposed threads on the plug or the cylinder bushing. Exposed threads can become hot spots initiating preignition. Use and installation of proper gaskets are essential to reliable engine operation. Double gasketting a spark plug or use of non-standard thin gaskets will expose threads, contributing to engine-damaging preignition. Use new copper gaskets to ensure a tight, gas-sealed spark plug
