Unquestionably one of the most devastating fighters of World War II, the F4U Corsair was an important asset to the United States Navy and Marine Corps, thanks in part to its distinct inverted gull wing, huge four-bladed propeller and a top seep of over 400 mph. And while most warbird fans love Corsairs, most modelers dread the thought of trying to build and align its complex signature gull wing.

In fact, many Corsair models skirt the scale look because the unusual gull wing can be difficult to build. But not Hangar 9's startlingly realistic new .60-size F4U Corsair ARF. The smooth flowing curve of the Hangar 9 wing accurately replicates that of the genuine WWII article, adding to the Corsair .60's scale authenticity. It also features scale details like preinstalled 90º rotating retracts, molded radial engine, attractive prepainted fiberglass cowl and an intricately detailed cockpit. All structures are built from quality balsa and ply, and genuine Hangar 9 UltraCote covering provides the finest look. All the hardware you need, such as hinges, fuel tank, wheels, linkages and control horns, is included. Plus, the Corsair ARF features prebuilt, self-aligning wing panels and a prebuilt wing that comes covered in five sections. Each section is jig-built and covered at the factory with the exact dihedral angles built in. All you have to do is plug in the included joiners and glue the panels together for a perfect fit and alignment. In 15-18 hours, your Corsair will be ready to ply.

Combining the Hangar 9 F4U Corsair .60 ARF with a Saito 1.00 4-stroke engine and standard JR 537 servos provides just the right power for scale high-speed strafing runs and nearly unlimited vertical victory rolls. Put your Corsair through a series of stall and spin tests, and you'll discover immediate recovery when you release the stick and with little altitude loss. Ground handling is as good as any other .60-size warbird Hangar 9 has tested, and the tail wheel give such positive response that tight circles with full rudder input and slight power are possible, even in strong crosswinds. The landing characteristics are also very easy, thanks to the Corsair's stable slow-speed handling.
