Since its first deployment to a combat squadron in 1976, the U.S. Air Force F-15 Eagle tactical fighter has maintained one of the most impressive combat records of the modern era. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney engines reaching speeds exceeding twice the speed of sound the Eagle's air superiority is achieved through a combination of exceptional maneuverability, acceleration and range, superior avionics and lethal armament. Its flight control and weapons systems including the sophisticated Doppler radar system which makes it possible to detect, acquire, track and engage opposing aircraft while operating over friendly or enemy-controlled airspace and have also been designed to enable a single pilot to effectively perform air-to-air combat.
Capable of penetrating hostile airspace, it will outperform and out fight any current aircraft it might possibly face. Armament includes a 20mm Gatling gun and a variety of air-to-air and air-to-surface missile systems. During the Balkan conflict of 1999, the F-15 was the only fighter attacking ground targets around the clock in all weather conditions, downing four Serbian Air Force Mig-29 Fulcrums in the process.
