CHT Probe

Currently offering four different versions of our CHT probes. These are all "K-type" thermocouples and they come in sizes 10mm, 12mm, 14mm and 18mm. The sizes refer to the thread diameter of the spark plug the probes are used on. Most automotive engines use 14mm plugs, the Jabiru engine and Rotax 912/914 use 12mm plugs. The big Lycomings and Continentals use 18mm plugs. Some motorbike engines use small 10mm plugs. The probes are supplied with 3 ft of Teflon insulated cable, heat resistant to 300 degrees C.

EGT Probe & Clamp

Our top quality, high temperature EGT probe. This unit can be used up to 1200 degrees C (2000 degrees F) short-term and 1100 degrees C indefinite.

• Made from 310 grade stainless steel the probe will remain firm at high temperatures making this an excellent choice for turbo charged high performance engines.
• The bolt has a 8x1 thread (Metric fine thread) as used by Rotax for their exhaust manifolds. The bolt is made from high tensile steel and is compatible with mild steel exhaust systems from a temperature expansion rate point of view
• The probe is fitted with a 3 ft, stainless steel armoured, mineral fibre insulated cable.
• The probe is a "K-type" thermocouple.

This EGT clamp kit is used for exhaust systems that do not have provision for accepting the 8x1 thread of our EGT probe. In this case a small hole the same size at the probe tip is drilled into the exhaust manifold and the probe inserted and held in place with the clamp kit. The clamp kit includes a drilled stainless steel band with galvanised adjuster. A 8x1 metric fine pitch nut is included to hold the probe in place.

Water Temperature Sender

Precision Temperature Probe

• This picture shows our precision temperature probe. It is based on a brass housing with a thread suitable for Rotax water/oil cooled engines.
• Electrically isolated from the engine which is helpful in some installations
• Accurate with a maximum installed error reading of less than 2 degrees over the full temperature range.
• Recommended for applications were exact water and/or oil temperature readings are required.

Fuel Flow Sender

• Dual Range fuel flow sender. (using the small jet pictured in front of the sender body) fuel flow from 3 liters/hour to as much as 500 liters/hour is catered for.
• Compatible with 8mm and 12mm hoses and similar imperial sized hoses.
• Compatible with a wide range of fuels including those with methanol and alcohol content.
• Mechanical failure of the sender will not block the fuel flow.
• The fuel flow sender is compatible with all of MGL Avionics range of products.
• Successfully fitted to every possible engine type including large aero engines.

This is a device that converts the serial altitude data from the airtalk protocol to Gillman codes suitable for connection to a mode-c transponder.

Gear Tooth Speed Sensor

We are able to offer the popular GT1 gear tooth sensor at a good price direct from the manufacturer. The GT1 sensor is typically used to measure rotor speed RPM at the pre-rotation gear of a Autogyro aircraft. It is however equally at home in other applications where RPM can be obtained from gear teeth sensing.

The GT1 is primarily used with our Ultra RL, RV-1 and RV-2 units but can also be used with all other of our instruments for RPM measurement.

Flight Log Download Key

This unit is used to transfer your instruments flight log details into MGL's Flight log program.

It can store the full flight log up to a maximum of 240 flights.

All you have to do is every now and then connect the key to your instrument to update any new flights you have done since the last time the key was connected.

Once the data has been downloaded into the key it can then be connected and transferred to the Flight log program running on the PC.

Airtalk to PC interface cable included.

Transorb Surge Protector

This device is used for the effective overvoltage protection of sensitive electronic equipment on your aircraft.

Voltages of several thousand volts can be measured in your aircraft when operating devices such as electrical motors, starter motors or solenoids. The surge protector clamps these voltages to an acceptable level suitable for electronic equipment.

>Note: Not fitting such a device has been responsible for much damage to radios and other electronic equipment on aircraft.

10,000uF Electrolytic Capacitor

This 10 000uF electrolytic capacitor is an inexpensive and useful addition to your aircrafts power supply. It can significantly reduce noise signals on your power supply that may be affecting your VHF radio such as ignition noise or rectifier/regulator noise artifacts.

Note: the capacitor must be installed as close as possible to the noise source with very short leads for maximum effect.
