AOA/Pitot Probes

The EFIS-D60 is a simpler version of the well-proven EFIS-D100. Included as standard is the Dynon SuperBright display. The primary functions duplicate a traditional six-pack: airspeed, attitude, altitude, turn coordinator, gyro stabilized heading (DG), and vertical speed, while also adding a voltmeter and altitude encoder. Angle of Attack (AoA) and a battery backup may be added as options. The EFIS-D60 System includes a remote compass and mounting tray.

High Resolution Screen

The EFIS-D60 features a 7” diagonal, super-bright color LCD which boasts the highest resolution in its class. Six buttons arranged along the bottom of the screen serve as the interface to the softkey-driven menu system for easy access to in-flight functions and setting pilot preferences.

Advanced ADAHRS

Dynon's advanced ADAHRS (Air Data, Attitude and Heading Reference System) integrates over a dozen solid-state sensors that deliver exceptional performance and reliability. With the exception of the remote compass, the ADAHRS is built inside the EFIS-D60 instrument housing, saving installation time and space. Each ADAHRS undergoes a rigorous calibration regime at the factory to ensure accuracy over its full operating range. Unlike mechanical gyros, Dynon's rugged design is tolerant to aggressive flight maneuvers, automatically corrects itself anytime its gyros' capabilities are exceeded, and cannot be damaged by aerobatics or unusual attitudes.

Reliable Operation

Dynon's EFIS-D60 utilizes an embedded, multi-processor design that delivers real-time performance and stability. This purpose-built design is unencumbered by burdensome operating systems that typically slow down performance and require long boot times. Dynon's software design enables complete control to maximize execution speed and deliver robust reliability. A hallmark of the EFIS-D60's performance and a great safety feature is its ability to display the correct attitude within a few seconds of being powered on while in flight.

Safety Features

A unique safety feature available from Dynon is its optional AOA/Pitot that combines Angle-of Attack (AOA) and airspeed sensing into a single pitot design. The AOA capability assists pilots on approaches and generates an alert signal for audible annunciation whenever nearing stall conditions. This pitot is available in heated and non-heated versions.

To guard against a power failure scenario, the EFIS-D60 may be optionally equipped with a Li-Ion Backup Battery. When power loss is detected, the instrument will automatically notify the pilot and immediately begin running on battery power for a minimum of 1.5 hours, enabling a safe landing.

Altitude Encoder Output

Aircraft equipped with a transponder require an external signal input from an altitude reporting device, in the form of an altitude encoder or an encoding altimeter. Dynon's EFIS and FlightDEK instruments always provide this signal output as a standard feature.

Dynon's altitude signal output is an RS-232 serial data stream that is compatible with newer style transponders like the Garmin GTX-330 and GTX-327. Transponders only accepting the traditional gray code (sometimes called Gillham code) input require Dynon's optional encoder converter module.

Altitude Encoder Converter Option

The encoder converter is a small box that converts the two wire EFIS serial data output into the multi-wire connection required by transponders that need gray code input.

Check with your transponder manufacturer to see if the Dynon encoder converter is required.

Li-Ion Battery Backup Option

It's surprising how many aircraft experience power failures. Redundant systems addressing this can often be costly, complex and heavy. One way to keep flying safely without adding a lot of weight, complexity or cost is to simply add an optionally available internal back up battery to the EFIS or FlightDEK itself. This battery will automatically take over powering the instrument should main power fail, thus enabling continued flight until you can safely reach the next airport.

The battery and charging circuitry are conveniently encased within the EFIS itself and automatically charge that battery anytime external power is applied. A separate, user serviceable door on the instrument case facilitates easily battery installation and removal at any time.
