- Altimeter
- Vertical Speed Indicator
- Gyro-Stabilized Compass Heading
- Turn Coordinator/Ball
- Turn Rate
- Clock/Timer
- G-Meter
- Voltmeter
- Angle-of-Attack (with optional Dynon AOA pitot)
- Serial altitude encoder output to your transponder
All Sensors Inside
The EFIS-D10A instrument includes 15 solid-state sensors all inside the instrument housing eliminating any complicated installation problems. These sensors include accelerometers, pressure transducers, temperature sensors, gyros, and magnetometers. If desired, an optional external compass/magnetometer and outside air temperature probe may be added to your system.
Save Space, Weight, Time & Money
Your instrument panel is one of the larger investments you're likely to make. Considerable money and space savings can be realized when selecting the EFIS-D10A system. This compact design optimally replaces 10 flight instruments plus your altitude encoder all in one easy to install packaged system. Not only do you free up valuable panel space, but significantly save on installation time and complexity.
Enhanced Reliability
The solid-state design uses no moving parts, inherently making it more reliable than traditional mechanical gyros and vacuum systems. It's a favorite among aerobatic pilots whose maneuvers cannot harm the instrument.
Note: This EFIS-D10A is intended for the Experimental aircraft category and is not certified for installation in certified aircraft.
Attitude Indicator
Providing pitch and roll information is one of the primary functions of the EFIS-D10A. The full screen effect of the attitude information provides an intuitive and easy to read background, on which the data below is presented.
Altimeter and Rate of Climb
Altitude data is displayed with an analog bar graph and a digital readout to provide the maximum awareness to the pilot.
Airspeed and Angle of Attack
Airspeed is displayed both digitally and as a scrolling bar, with green, yellow, red and white airspeeds easily customizable for your aircraft. Stall prevention is enhanced with an angle of attack bar display also color coded with green, yellow and red. Angle of attack information is obtained from Dynon's unique pitot probe.
Compass/Heading Gyro
360-degree scrolling compass data is displayed along the top of the screen. Heading information is electronically derived from solid-state magnetic field sensors.
Turn Coordinator & Lateral Acceleration Ball
Turn rate information is presented and calibrated against a standard rate turn. Solid-state accelerometers provide the ball function to aid coordinated turns.
Voltmeters, G-meter, Clock, Timer...
Many useful meters can be displayed by selecting or deselecting items through the menu system.

Altitude Encoder Output
The EFIS-D10A & D100 outputs altitude encoder data via serial communications using an ASCII formatted message. The change from parallel gray code used by the EFIS-D10 & D100 model was to free up connection pins for other features and be compatible with newer transponders coming out on the market.
Dynon does not have a listing of serial equipped/compatible transponders available in the market. You'll need to purchase an altitude encoder if the transponder you currently own or are considering only accepts a parallel input. There are no serial to parallel converters that we know about.
The EFIS-D10A provides a setup menu that allows you to select from one of 4 possible protocols and an altimeter resolution of either 10 or 00 feet. The combination of these two selections should make the EFIS-D10A compatible with most serial input capable transponders.
- Protocol 1: Garmin AT/UPS AT 1200 baud
- Protocol 2: Magellan 1200 baud
- Protocol 3: Northstar, Garmin 2400 baud
- Protocol 4: Trimble, Garmin 9600 baud
When purchasing a new transponder or looking to see if your existing unit is compatible, please check with your owners manual, manufacturer's representative or local avionics shop - please do not call Dynon.
EFIS D10A/D100 Encoder Converter Module
| Part No. | PHOTO | Description | CART | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DYNON 362-000 | Encoder Converter Module, D6/D10A/D60/D100/D180 | $80.00 |
Dynon Encoder Converter Module accepts the EFIS D10A altitude encoder serial signal output and converts it to a parallel blind encoder (Gray Code) format. This module is the perfect cost-effective solution for those with transponders that do not accept the newer serial type signals as being sent by the EFIS D10A or D100.
The module measures 2" wide x 1.5" tall x 1" deep and weighs 45 grams. It includes two .080" diameter holes spread 2.5" apart which can be used for mounting securely to the aircraft. Wires exit from opposite sides along the bottom with two 20" long winres on the right that connect to the EFIS-D10A or D100 and eleven 9" long wires exiting the left side for connection to the transponder. All wires are color coded for simplify connection. No mating connectors are supplied.
