EGT Probe consists of a Chrome/Alumel thermocouple enclosed in a special long life alloy sheath attached to a stainless steel clamp. The probe tip is installed in a small hole in the exhaust stack, and held by the clamp. Probe wire leads are protected by a stainless steel overbraid. A grounded junction provides fast response.
Cylinder Head Probes
Four types of CHT probes are available from Insight. While either type is satisfactory, the low profile style is more often used since it does not have to be disturbed when removing spark plugs. Engines equipped with electrical cylinder head heaters must use the gasket type probe.
