Gill-Teledyne Lead-Acid Batteries

Most airframe manufacturers use the flooded-cell lead-acid Gill Battery manufactured by Teledyne Battery Products as original equipment and it is a popular choice for replacement. Many design innovations contribute to the value of a Gill Battery, features such as:

  • Through-partition intercell welding
  • Enveloped plates
  • Improved case-cover seal
  • Heavy-duty internal post
  • Redesigned cell construction to provide better power delivery and charge acceptance

Gill-Teledyne Sealed Recombinant Technology (SRT) batteries are designed for turboprop, jet and piston powered aircraft, offering high performance discharge, high cranking non-spillable and very low maintenance features. FAA/PMA approved for Certified Aircraft with installed factory battery box.

Gill Valve-Regulated Lead-Acid (VRLA) battery technology contains all electrolyte absorbed in glass-mat separators, with no free electrolyte and is sometimes referred to as a sealed battery. The electrochemical reactions in a VRLA battery are the same as a standard flooded-cell battery, except for the Oxygen-Hydrogen gas recombination mechanism that is predominant in VRLA batteries.

Containing the electrolyte in an absorbtive glass mat separator that retains and immobilizes the electrolyte allows a Gill VRLA battery to operate in any position without electrolyte spillage.
